This isn't about gay boys, but it's about new_gay_boys and that's enough I think. %)
Some recent drama illustrates how the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) can be abused. A user in this community didn't like being criticized or satirized, so he filed a completely phony DMCA claim with no legal merit, trying to chill the person who posted it into taking it down. The image was protected speech under federal law (Campbell v. Acuff-Rose Music and Hustler Magazine v. Falwell, as pointed out by iconoclast, who's actually been to law school and didn't just hear that on Boston Legal or one of the Law & Orders).
Using the power of the state to silence criticism is a sure sign you're dealing with a petty tyrant.
The DMCA has caused many abuses and unintended consequences. A long list of them is available from EFF, an organization you should check out if you care about silly things like freedom.
How did this stupid DMCA become law? It was passed unanimously (yes, unanimously) by both houses of Congress and signed by President Clinton in 1998. There are bad ideas from Democrats and bad ideas from Republicans, but the really bad ideas are usually the ones that have "broad bipartisan support".
Btw, the problem with this is DMCA, not the people from El Jay, so don't give them too much shit. The policy on this really is dictated by DMCA Title II, which isn't the fault of the El Jay staff. Save your criticism for the people who wrote DMCA, and the people who abuse it.

Thanks. I try to be lovable when I rant. %)
It's pretty disgusting he did that. He spreads bullshit all over the place here and when people react to that he goes and tells the teacher.
well, in all honesty, it's not very surprising. he seems to have significant emotional issues. im not the poster boy for normalcy, but, unlike him, i can fake it quite well ;)
It's very 3rd grade behavior, isn't it? I would suggest he be sent back to 3rd grade, but I'm afraid he'd see it as a dating opportunity. %)
He claimed to own the rights to a picture that has been seen elsewhere on the net. He doesn't like some of the lovely people here, complained like a 3 year old to his mommy, I mean LJ and they told the people to take down the pictures. They refused because the pictures were not the bitchs and were banned I guess.
Just read the last 2-3 days, it's all there... I think.....
no, sadly, those posts have been removed as well.
